Women and Non-binary People in Organising was a whole day of workshops, discussions and exchanges to celebrate and empower women and non-binary members of Living Rent and come together in solidarity. We focused on learning more about our history and how women and non-binary people continue to play crucial roles in historical struggles for our homes, reflect on how we can support each other to name and tackle sexism and patriarchy, how we can care for each other, and brainstorm how to develop campaigns in a feminist and empowering way.
In addition to training on public speaking, leadership development and discussions on overcoming barriers in the union, the day included the workshop ‘Stories of Organising from E15 to G5’ with presentations from Kate Wilson and Gemma Moncrieff. Artist Keira Mclean ran a creative workshop on collective visual storytelling using block printing techniques.
